Reeperbahn Festival Socials

Bild1

Dear media representatives, dear colleagues,
after we have already presented the first acts earlier, this is about content again – we are pleased to provide you with information on the first speakers, a cooperation with UNERHÖRT! Music Film Festival and 32 new bands and artists.
Frehn Hawel

Hamburg, 19 May 2016
The Reeperbahn Festival is characterised by its curate music and arts programme and also by the conference programme which will deal with no less than stocktaking and future questions of the music and digital sector. Since 2009 political and music-business pacesetters have been regular guests at the conference, and renowned keynote speakers such as Herbert Grönemeyer, Seymour Stein and Dave Stewart underpin the growing importance of the Reeperbahn Festival as an international event.
This year the Reeperbahn Festival Conference will welcome John Giddings, one of the world's major artists' agents (Rolling Stones, Madonna, David Bowie and many more) and promoters. Apart from providing insights into his career, Giddings will also give his personal view on global trends in the live music business.
Music manager, producer and author Simon Napier-Bell (Black Vinyl White Powder) is one of the most caustic experts of the present music industry. In his opinion, technical developments are setting the pace for artistic trends and the related economic success. He will explain why, at the Reeperbahn Festival in September.
Austin, Texas is considered Silicon Valley, part 2. Chelsea Collier, co-founder of Impact Hub Austin and owner of the consulting firm Intercambio, knows Austin's successful start-up eco-system like virtually no other. She will provide the audience with insights into the start-up world of Austin and with forecasts of future business concepts. In recent months, one expression has made the round in the music industry: Block Chain. Benji Rogers, founder and Chief Strategic Officer of PledgeMusic and currently one of the most important block chain evangelists, is coming to Hamburg to promote this technical revolution at the Reeperbahn Festival Conference.

A new cooperation will be forged at the Reeperbahn Festival film programme this year: On the occasion of its tenth anniversary the UNERHÖRT! Music Film Festival, a nationwide festival for documentaries and films focusing on music, will take place for the first time in the course of the Reeperbahn Festival. At the Golem, East Cinema and B-Movie venues, films about musicians, bands and their work, festivals, musical movements and their socio-cultural and political background set between underground and advanced culture will be shown. In the setting of the festival the "UNERHÖRT! Bester Musikfilm 2016" prize ("UNERHÖRT! Best Music Film 2016") will be awarded. People active in the film industry who are interested in presenting their works during the UNERHÖRT! Music Film Festival can reach it here until 1 July 2016.

As announced at the beginning, 32 new bands and artists have been confirmed as part of the music programme:
Wild Beasts from British Kendal have pursued their very own musical vision right from the start and have played their way up to the top of British Indie rock with four albums (most current: "Present Tense" in 2014).
The Berlin-based band around song writer and singer Dota has seen a similar development, spicing their catchy songs with poesy and acumen.
With her most recent publication "Empire Builder" US songwriter Laura Gibson has made a spectacular musical and personal restart.
Blaudzun from this year's partner country the Netherlands, who already fills large halls in his home country with his expansive and opulent folk pop music, is gaining popularity also in Germany.
The Darmstadt-based psychedelic rockers Okta Logue, who have acquired a fan community in the USA since their last appearance at the Reeperbahn Festival in 2013, are presenting "Diamonds and Despair" their most current and so-far strongest album.

Further acts confirmed: Chad Lawson, Kero Kero Bonito, Mabel, Mitski, Skinny Living, Tan LeRacoon, Wintersleep, Woman, Hannah Epperson, ME + MARIE, Pinegrove, Samm Henshaw, Sevdaliza, Soom T, YUNG, Wallis BirdHelgi Jonsson with Tina Dico and Marianne Lewandowski, Ben Caplan, Daniel Norgren, Noah Guthrie, Robbing Millions, Karl Blau, Jamie Isaac, Kytes, Nalan381, William´s Orbit, Dicht & Ergreifend
