Reeperbahn Festival Socials

Dear media representatives, dear colleagues,
on the eleventh presentation of the Reeperbahn Festival, we are also fixing on an official country focus, this time revolving around our neighbours, the Netherlands. Apart from Dutch bands and artists, further new acts have been confirmed for the concert programme.

In recent years a striking number of acts from the Netherlands have gained international acclaim. What we have already been familiar with from the dance scene now spills over to the indie and rock sphere. Bands and artists such as Blaudzun, De Staat, Dotan and Bombay are attracting ever larger audiences in these parts, too. A good reason to deal with the diverse Dutch music scene and also, to no lesser extent, with the excellent cultural support which institutions such as Dutch Impact, Buma Cultuur and Performing Arts Fund NL have been providing for years.

In cooperation with the Dutch Embassy in Germany, this year's country focus, the Dutch music and arts landscape, will be represented in all areas of the Reeperbahn Festival. Brought to you by Eurosonic Noorderslag, powered by Performing Arts Fund, Buma Cultuur, Creative Holland and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The programme of the Reeperbahn Festival Conference will offer professional visitors to the Reeperbahn Festival the opportunity to meet the most important representatives of the Dutch music business at panels, a Dutch Impact Matchmaking Session and the Dutch Impact Dinner.

In the curated live programme of the Reeperbahn Festival, apart from the Benelux indie rock hero De Staat, Blaudzun's opulent pop design, Bombay's complex but always catchy indie pop, Afterpartees' captivating garage rock and the dashingly noisy new wave of Rats On Rafts, you can experience five more acts with Sevdaliza, Klangstof, Black Oak, Causes and Klyne which will show why at present Europe's flattest country is such fertile soil for internationally competitive music.
At the official Dutch Impact Showcase at the Molotow on Thursday, 22 September, Reeperbahn Festival guests can enjoy seven bands: Afterpartees, Black Oak, Bombay, Klangstof, Klyne, Rats On Rafts and Sevdaliza
For the live programme aside from the Netherlands, new bands and artists have been confirmed, including some noteworthy acts: the Irish songwriter Conor J. O Brien and his band Villagers will create great emotional moments, Maxim is back on stage after an extended live break, showing that urban pop in German sounds terrific, while the Australian dance psychedelic Jagwar Ma will set the sound for a party. Making it into the Tagesthemen news with his debut album Harieschaim - Max Gruber aka Drangsal is THE German pop sensation of 2016 and also attracts international attention. On his third album Plusmacher captivates the sound of the street, bringing it back to German hip-hop. Robin Propper-Shepard alias Sophia can be found at the other end of the musical scale: His melancholic indie folk has the qualities of a very good red wine - one day everyone will appreciate it.
