Reeperbahn Festival Socials

Dear media representatives, dear colleagues,
A world premiere that could hardly be more fitting for Hamburg and the Reeperbahn Festival: musician and graphic designer Klaus Voormann opens an exhibition of his work in Hamburg on 18 September 2018 during the 13th Reeperbahn Festival. Alongside iconic artwork from the Beatles era, Voormann will showcase a range of graphic pieces. Some of them will be presented to the public for the very first time.

At this year's ECHO show, he was recently honoured for his life work. Still an exceptionally creative artist, Klaus Voormann is a man who neither stagnates nor relies on monothematic skills: musical legend, designer of the Beatles' legendary REVOLVER album cover, author, film actor, winner of the ECHO award and multiple Grammys. While many would be happy to achieve just a fraction of his success, Klaus Voormann looks back on a variety of highly successful career paths that have left an indelible mark on pop culture. On 18 September 2018, the artist, who now lives near Munich, returns to the place where it all began. During the Reeperbahn Festival, Voormann will host the premiere of his exhibition KLAUS VOORMANN - IT STARTED IN HAMBURG.

On the occasion of his 80th birthday in the spring of 2018, the exhibition at the Festival Village on Heiligengeistfeld presents his graphic work since 1958 and the book of the same name. In addition to legendary illustrations from the Beatles' years, Voormann's wide-ranging, award-winning graphic work, sketches and objects will also be showcased. Physical exhibits and large-scale projections, some to be shown for the first time, illustrate the diversity of Klaus Voormann's work. The exhibition will span multiple stages of Voorman's life from performing artist and musician to the role Hamburg has played for him.

Hamburg occupies a special place in the heart and work of the artist: "I was born in Berlin, but my heart belongs to Hamburg. The city was my bridge between childhood and adulthood. My career as a musician and my work as a performing artist, it all began in Hamburg” (Klaus Voormann, IT STARTED IN HAMBURG, 2018).

In cooperation with the Reeperbahn Festival, hi-life Uriz von Oertzen hosts the world premiere of the exhibition KLAUS VOORMANN - IT STARTED IN HAMBURG during the Reeperbahn Festival 2018. Reeperbahn Festival visitors can admire the work of Klaus Voormann from 18 September in the Festival Village on Heiligengeistfeld.
