Welcome VUT Indie Days

We’re very pleased to be welcoming VUT Indie Days – organised by the German Association of Independent Music Companies (VUT) – to Reeperbahn Festival for the fourth time. Once again this year, VUT Indie Days kicks off on Wednesday with the VUT Members’ Meeting and the VUT Get-Together international networking event. The VUT Indie House is also back – located at sanktpaulibar on Spielbudenplatz it will host a number of meetings, networking activities, and workshops on Thursday and Friday. And the VUT Indie Days highlight – the presentation of the VIA! VUT Indie Awards – takes place on Thursday evening.
In addition, VUT Indie Days is making a valuable contribution to the festival conference programme, presenting sessions in the conference’s “Recorded Music” and “Sound & Society” tracks that will feature a wide range of speakers, including Annett Polaszewski-Plath (Managing Director, Eventbrite Germany and Austria), Steinunn Arnardottir (Director of Engineering, Native Instruments), Drees Ringert (Head of Sponsoring, Wacken Open Air), and Venesa Hoffmann (VP EMEA, Napster).

See below for more details.

Recorded Music

At the session The Untapped Streaming Source, speakers Robin Hofmann (Co-founder, HearDis!, DE), Anja Braune (Head of Licensing Online, GEMA, DE), and Venesa Hoffmann (VP EMEA, Napster, DE) talk with moderator Ronny Krieger (CEO, MOD Devices, DE) about the pros and cons of corporate streaming services.

How will the creative process around music production evolve in the coming years? This question is the focus of the session A Journey Into Sound, with Dennis DeSantis (Head of Documentation, Ableton AG, DE), Steinunn Arnardottir (Director of Engineering, Native Instruments, DE), and Prof. Maria Baptist (Professor for Historical and Contemporary Compositional Technique / Improvisation, Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin, DE – photo).

Sound & Society

What is the cultural sector – especially the music industry – doing to promote inclusion, and where is the need for action most pressing? Elnaz Amiraslani (Diversity Management / Owner, PARVENUE, DE), Laura Schwengber (Sign Language Interpreter for Pop Music, DE), and Drees Ringert (Head of Sponsoring, Wacken Open Air, DE) discuss this question with moderator Mitra Kassai (Cultural and Artists Manager, Le Beau Bureau, DE) at the session Inclusive Cultural Activities and at the associated workshop Inclusion – Barrier-Free Events.
And at the session New Work Environments we’ll hear from Dr Lena Marbacher (Founder, Neue Narrative Magazin, DE), Nina Duda (Office Manager, Dark Horse, DE – photo), and Annett Polaszewski-Plath (Managing Director, Eventbrite Germany and Austria, DE).
