Reeperbahn Festival Socials

Today's newsletter focuses on two great European projects powered by Reeperbahn Festival:
Keychange - the pioneering initiative which empowers women to transform the future of music and Music Moves Europe Talent Awards - the new EU price for popular music!

Keychange Day – Empowering Women In Music

It's hard to believe, but even in 2018 the fight for gender equality is still not over. In the shadow of media-effective discourses, equal rights are not yet a social standard, but rather a desired goal. Whether in everyday life or on the job, whether in politics or in cultural life: women are underrepresented, and this is also the case in the music business – it will not fully exploit its possibilities if it does not support female artists. To bring about changes actively, the Reeperbahn Festival 2017 has initiated Keychange in cooperation with PRS Foundation and further international partners. The idea is moving festival organisers worldwide and is intended to spread to other sub-markets of the music industry.

With the Keychange Day on Thursday, 20 September starting 12:15 pm at Festival Village / Spiegelzelt, we will reflect all the topics ranging from feminism and pop culture, diversity and discrimination in workshops, discussions, speeches, film performances, concerts and parties.
Amongst others expect Tony Visconti, Linda Perry (photo),  Pat Carr and Kinnie Starr in the panel on Women In Music - Next Steps and many more. Away from the Keychange Day on Thursday, further events on the same topic will take place during the Reeperbahn Festival.

Europe At The Campfire

We are happy to present the first European Music Late Night Show at the Reeperbahn Festival: The Campfire Show.
The host is Vanessa Mdee (TZ - photo), singer, youth activist, TV and radio presenter and one of the most exciting personalities of the international music biz. Vanessa welcomes her guests by the campfire under the symbolic star roof of Europe. Among them are artists who have been nominated for the new Music Moves Europe Talent Awards and those who will simply talk about life, love and music careers in Europe and make music together with the show band and audience.
In advance, representatives of the EU Commission will report on the new European funding programme Music Moves Europe and representatives of the ten project partners will announce the 18 artists nominated for the prize at the Music Moves Europe Talent Awards presentation and explain all the details about the new European Music Award.
