Hamburg, 09 January 2019
Something that looked like a small sensation two years ago has meanwhile become a pleasant fixed element: In 2019, Elbphilharmonie will again be one of the Reeperbahn Festival venues! On two days, on Friday and Saturday, 20 and 21 September, three concerts will be staged in the Grand Hall.

In the course of their nineteen-year career, the three school day friends making up the indie rock trio Efterklang (DK) (photo) have sufficiently demonstrated that their experimental pop concept is virtually made for classical concert halls: Whether accompanied by a chamber orchestra or a big symphonic orchestra – continuous change is the constant factor of their musical cosmos. On all of their five albums, there are illustrious guest musicians, and their live shows in ever changing line-ups always turn out to be mind-blowing happenings. After they performed even at the Sydney Opera House during the world tour for their latest album "Piramida" in 2012, the Danes are now aiming for the Hamburg landmark in September 2019. In the course of their exclusive concerts during Reeperbahn Festival, the band will present their new material, accompanied by the Belgian baroque ensemble B.O.X and a choir composed of members of the Elbphilharmonie cleaning personnel.

The singer songwriter Anna Ternheim (SE), honoured with numerous awards, combines folk, jazz and blues with the typical melancholic poetry of Scandinavia. She is very familiar with Reeperbahn Festival: Apart from several performances at the festival over the years, she was a member of the very first ANCHOR jury in 2016. During her Elbphilharmonie concert at Reeperbahn Festival, she will celebrate the world premiere of her new album, to be released on 20 September. On this occasion, the Swede will colaborate with the Kaiser Quartett (DE) for the first time, and apart from songs from her new album she will also present songs specially arranged with the Kaiser Quartett for this concert.

With her voice, covering several octaves, her expressive piano tunes and her atmospheric synthesizer sounds, the German composer, singer and pianist Lisa Morgenstern (DE) creates a highly emotional sound cosmos. In her baroque pop songs full of cool elegance, she has perfected the interplay between bright glimmers of hope and sombre chasms. In the stunning ambience of the Elbphilharmonie, her unique soundscapes are sure to have an even more captivating effect.

Here is the Elbphilharmonie programme in detail:

Friday, 20 September:
20:30        Anna Ternheim vs. Kaiser Quartett
24:00        Lisa Morgenstern

Saturday, 21 September:
22:30       Efterklang
