Reeperbahn Festival Socials

Dear media partners, dear colleagues,
Today, the Reeperbahn Festival presence at South By Southwest (SXSW) 2019 in Austin, Texas, will come to an end. Apart from its activities accompanying the traditional "Reeperbahn Hamburgers" receptions, Reeperbahn Festival presented itself successfully for the 13th time to the North American market with a concert night as well as panels and presentations on "Immersive Experiences" and "Gender Balance" at the world's largest digital, film and music fair, again demonstrating its vision of future-oriented topics.

From 08 March to next Sunday evening, SXSW will show its visitors a versatile programme providing profound insights into the development of the areas digital, movie and music. It has become an annual tradition for the Reeperbahn Festival team to take part in its creation.

"Reeperbahn Hamburgers" has been an inherent part at the location Downtown Burgers, directly at the Austin Convention Center. Over a period of three days, Reeperbahn Festival presented itself with the Hanseatic city of Hamburg at this popular and well-attended venue, offering international representatives of the digital and music industries a platform for information, networking and exchange.

"Empowering Women in Music" – Showcase
Last Monday evening, Reeperbahn Festival, together with the initiative "Keychange", presented a selection of international female artists, including the new "Keychange" ambassador and rapper Mavi Phoenix (AT), the band Gurr (DE) that has already been supporting the initiative for a while, Lowly (DK), the indie-pop quintet around the singers Nanna Schannong and Soffie Viemose, as well as singer-songwriter SOAK (UK) at the Palm Door on Sixth club. "Immersive Experiences" – Presentation of the commissioned work "Symphony Of Noise VR" by Matthew Herbert
Reeperbahn Festival gave a first taste of its Hamburg event at the German Haus on 12 March by presenting the "Symphony Of Noise VR" by Matthew Herbert. The work, specially composed for presentation at Reeperbahn Festival, merges the compositions of the British sound scientist with virtual reality, thus creating an innovative music adventure to be experienced in September.

All panel discussions took place in the course of the program "Deutschlandjahr USA", funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and organized by the Goethe Institute and the Federation of German Industries (BDI). In this context, Reeperbahn Festival, in cooperation with re:publica and next media accelerator, will present its "Sequencer Tour" program at various locations across the US.
