52 new bands and artists at Reeperbahn Festival 2019
By today's announcement of 52 names, the concert programme of Reeperbahn Festival has now reached a total of 105 confirmed acts.
Among them Ásgeir (IS) (photo) who, with his artfully composed pop pearls ranging between indie, electronica and folk, is long known beyond the borders of his home country.
The LoFi pioneers Sebadoh (US) can already count their career in decades: Three decades ago their debut album was published, the trio around Lou Barlow came back in 2013 after the band had a break of almost ten years and is now coming to Hamburg with its ninth album.
Punk attitude, fuzz guitars, psychedelia: YAK (GB) give rock born in Britain back its edge, charging open doors, while Amilli (DE) is confronting the sometimes inane opulence of more recent rap and r’n'b productions with his soulful vocals and brilliantly produced beats – easily scoring all the coolness points with his relaxed understatement.

Also confirmed: Stars (CA), James TW (GB), Argonautiks (DE), VON SPAR (DE), Young The Giant (US), bülow (CA, DE, GB, NL, US), Jules Ahoi (DE), The Screenshots (DE), MID CITY (AU), HAVARII. Reeperbahn Festival International: Review Beijing (CHN)
The Reeperbahn Festival International programme is aimed at promoting cultural exchange between German and European artists and their international counterparts as well as setting up an international network enabling entry to international markets for small and medium-sized companies. The starting point of this programme, subsidised by the German Federal Foreign Office, are numerous existing, long-standing international cooperation ventures and contacts of Reeperbahn Festival as greatest European music platform. From 18 to 19 May, Reeperbahn Festival presented a programme at the WISE conference in Beijing where on two concert nights German and European artists such as Jungstötter (DE), Mavi Phoenix (AT), Chagall (GB), Catnapp (DE) met Chinese acts such as White+ (CN), David Boring (CN), Lows0n (CN), and The Hormones (CN). For professional visitors Reeperbahn Festival offered two panels under the motto "The Musical Silk Road", providing insights into the German and then into the Chinese markets.

Steve Mayall, Managing Director and co-founder of Music Ally:
"The importance of the music markets in China, Africa or South America is growing and will continue to grow. That’s why we need initiatives like Reeperbahn Festival Beijing to develop networks, exchange knowledge and create sustainable access for artists and their professional environments. My impression is that there’s been a lot achieved here already in this regard in the first year.“
