52 new bands and artists at Reeperbahn Festival 2019 By today's announcement of 52 names, the concert programme of Reeperbahn Festival has now reached a total of 105 confirmed acts. Among them Ásgeir (IS) (photo) who, with his artfully composed pop pearls ranging between indie, electronica and folk, is long known beyond the borders of his home country. The LoFi pioneers Sebadoh (US) can already count their career in decades: Three decades ago their debut album was published, the trio around Lou Barlow came back in 2013 after the band had a break of almost ten years and is now coming to Hamburg with its ninth album. Punk attitude, fuzz guitars, psychedelia: YAK (GB) give rock born in Britain back its edge, charging open doors, while Amilli (DE) is confronting the sometimes inane opulence of more recent rap and r’n'b productions with his soulful vocals and brilliantly produced beats – easily scoring all the coolness points with his relaxed understatement.
