Dear Media Partners, Dear Colleagues,

Works specifically created for Reeperbahn Festival have been an integral part of the Reeperbahn Festival programme for several years. This year's debut of "Ekki Hugsa 360°" by the Icelandic producer and songwriter Ólafur Arnalds at the Planetarium Hamburg will also be the premiere of a new Reeperbahn Festival venue.
In addition, it is a great pleasure for us to announce that the Irish songwriter Dermot Kennedy is now returning as a well-established and celebrated pop star with a new album after his show at Reeperbahn Festival 2017.

Ólafur Arnalds: Ekki Hugsa 360° - an audio-visual overall experience
Let go, lose control and gain creativity: This is the motto of the world premiere of Ólafur Arnalds' "Ekki Hugsa 360°" (photo) specifically produced for Reeperbahn Festival 2019. It is not a musical live performance, but the Icelandic multi-instrumentalist will act as host and introduce the performance at the brand new Reeperbahn Festival venue, the Planetarium Hamburg, every night from 06.00 to 07.00 pm, together with his video producer Torsten Posselt; he will present his album “re:member”, launched last year, in a new audio-visual way, and he will be available afterwards to answer questions from the audience, making this programme item an extraordinary experience.
The secret star of this production is a special instrument: The Stratos piano, designed over two years, combines three pianos playing different notes at every keystroke, generating unexpected, harmonious turns and melodious sequences. Every evening, these harmony cascades added to the music of "re:member" will be merging in different video productions into a new audio-visual holistic work. As the name “Ekki Hugsa", which in Icelandic means "not thinking", aptly suggests, the goal is for the audience to let go and succumb to the immersive adventure of sound and video.

In order to visit this programme item in the course of Reeperbahn Festival, apart from a Reeperbahn Festival wristband valid for this day, you need a seat ticket for the Planetarium Hamburg. This ticket can be collected (if available) when exchanging the Reeperbahn Festival ticket for a wristband at the Ticket Desk on Heiligengeistfeld.

Opening hours Ticket Desk:
Wednesday - Friday: 09.00 am – midnight

Dermot Kennedy

Everyone being anywhere near a radio this year is likely to know his hit "Power Over Me". With his sensationally rough voice and his masterly mix of singer songwriter and trap and electro elements, the Irish singer and guitarist Dermot Kennedy (photo) has managed one of those shooting star careers many others are dreaming of: In the record time of just one year he made it from the streets of Dublin to the stages of SXSW, Lollapallooza and Coachella – no matter how large the crowds he performs for – the profound passion of his songs captivates them all in no time at all! After the release of his EP at the beginning of this year, in autumn his debut album "Without Fear" will follow and be presented by the future folk poet at his Reeperbahn Festival show.
