Marketing sessions at this year's conference

A wide range of sessions mainly aimed at practical use and insights for daily business make up the marketing thread of this year’s conference programme. There are sessions about how to reach (and grow) your audience via messenger apps and how to sell tickets via Instagram. We look at innovative ways to use smart speakers via virtual assistants such as Amazon’s Alexa and examine The Evolution Of Album Campaigns in times of streaming. There is a presentation of a do it yourself app for touring aimed at up and coming bands and a panel discussing how Wacken festival managed to turn their festival into an internationally successful brand. We get to learn about the use of metadata for a better understanding of your audience and look at the difference between fans and followers and ways to build a strong community of supporters for your band (or brand). Moreover, the Deezer Backstage Workshop gives artists insides on how to increase their fan base and improve performance.

Follower are not fans

Why do people follow artists? Why are they willing to support them and spread the word? In the wake of declining media structures and a more individualised understanding of consumption, these questions become crucial and shouldn’t be ignored by artists.

This lecture aims to sensitize the industry for this “new” marketing and communication concept and present strategies to build your own community and tie your fans to your brand.

The session with Tine Theurich (CEO, Superunknown, DE, photo), Norman Fleischer (Director, Superunknown, DE), and Stefanie Tendler (Manager, The Trouble Notes, DE) will be held in German.

Smart Speakers: a Little More Conversation

With „Topsify“ and „Song des Tages“ („Song of the Day“), Warner Music has developed its own skills for Amazon's Alexa. What possibilities do virtual assistants in smart home systems and other voice control concepts offer for music promotion and which strategies and concepts are successful?

We talk amongst others with Marec Lerche (Head Of Performance Mgmt. & Development, Warner Music Central Europe, DE) and Andreas Weitkämper (Managing Director Domestic, Warner Music Central Europe, DE) about the future of user-oriented music marketing. This session will be held in German.

MS Matchmaking line up complete

The line up of Music Supervisors for the Music Supervisor Matchmaking Session is final with lately confirmed Jemma Burns (Music Supervisor, Level Two, AU) and Yona Azoulay (Music Supervisor, Le Sparkle, IL, FR).

Look forward to one-to-one meetings with these and many more top international music supervisors, for example Ben Sumner (Music Supervisor, Feel for Music, GB).
