Future playground: IDEAS FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

For the first time we invite you to explore the FUTURE PLAYGROUND in the Festival Village, where we show together with different partners intelligent, sustainable and above all creative ideas for the music sector and other areas. A Circular Futures Supermarket presents sustainable innovations, ideas and products. In a Brain Flow experience participants have the opportunity to experience and observe their own brain while thinking.

The FUTURE DOME, as the centre of the FUTURE PLAYGROUND, will also feature panels, talks, and network events in which ideas will be presented, discussed and, at best, further developed.

In cooperation with the United Nations (UN) the first Summit on Music & Sustainable Development Goals will take place on Festival-Friday, among others with Dagmar Schumacher (Director, UN Women Brussels Office, BE), Caroline Petit (Deputy Director, United Nations Regional Information Center in Europe (UNRIC), BE), Rüdiger Kruse (MdB, CDU/CSU, DE), Patricia Yague (Head of Sustainability Europe, Live Nation, GB) and many more. More can be found below and here

Moreover, there will be two panels concerning the topic Keychange about feminism and sexualized violence in show business.

Also, we will allow ourselves an audible glimpse of the future when acoustic engineer and musician Dr. Renzo Vitale (DE) shows how he composes a voice for electric cars. The full programme can be found here.

The FUTURE PLAYGROUND will be supplied with electricity exclusively by solar collectors installed on site and thus aims to promote a more compatible type of live event.

Summit on Music & Sustainable Development Goals

As part of a collaboration between Reeperbahn Festival, the consulting agency Sound Diplomacy and the United Nations (UN), the FUTURE DOME on Friday will also host the first panels on Music & Sustainable Development Goals. Representatives of the UN, the European Union, institutions and the music industry will highlight the 17 goals formulated by the UN (Sustainable Development Goals) for sustainable economic, social and ecological development under the aspects of the music industry. The sessions of the 4 hour event will include a keynote by Dagmar Schumacher (Director of the Brussels Office, UN Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), BE) on A World In Which Music Contributes To Reducing Gender Inequalities and the panels Introducing Music And The SDGs, Sustainable Development Goals 5,8 & 11, and Where Do We Go From Here?

And don't miss the SDG Interactive Wall on the FUTURE PLAYGROUND to understand and learn what the SDGs are about.
