While the physical formats of it are getting replaced more and more by digitalization, the recording of music and the consumption of such records is still at the heart of the music industry. So of course this year we have many sessions concerned with the various aspects of producing and distributing music tracks, albums and the respective artist careers. Let us introduce some of our sessions of this year's Recorded strand:
We are happy to welcome Richard Gottehrer, legendary 1960s songwriter („Hang On Sloopy“), 1970s label founder (Sire Records), 1980s producer (The Go-Go’s, Joan Armatrading), 1990’s internet music entrepreneurial pioneer (The Orchard), whose keynote interview will discuss in how far the much maligned disruption of the industry by digitalisation is actually an opportunity if understood as such. The successful development of the digital music market in the last 15 years is in fact the topic of a high caliber session, in which German powerhouse Kontor New Media together with panelists like Patrick Mushatsi-Kareba (CEO, Sony Music GSA, DE) and Tina Funk (CEO, Concorde Music GSA, DE) take a look at their 15 years of dealing with digital music distribution and discuss its future prospects. Concerning the highly competitive streaming platform market, Deezer Chief Content & Strategy Officer Alexander Holland (FR) will give insights into his company’s strategies for the next stage of market development. On another tip we take a look at today’s production conditions and their influence on the creative side of music making, discussing whether It’s Got To Be Perfect? with Canadian artist and producer Hill Kourtoulis, Johann Scheerer (Studio Owner / Producer, Clouds Hill, DE) and the esteemed producers (and ANCHOR Jury members) Bob Rock (Metallica et al.) and Tony Visconti (T.Rex, David Bowie amongst many others). Moreover, join our experts to participate in a master class about today's A&R strategies, and learn how to identify and convert talent into proper artists for streaming and stages. Our partner Backspin will meanwhile look at the artist brand of legendary German rap artist Kool Savas in The Brand Kool Savas while our partners from German independent network VUT will again host various sessions, for example about the change in the dj market From DJ Downloads To DJ Streaming.
The full programme can be found here. Many more sessions about „Recorded Music“ will be published in the final conference programme shortly.
