Reeperbahn Festival International goes africa!

Hardly has the 14th Reeperbahn Festival ended, when Reeperbahn Festival International programme has its premiere on African soil in Accra from 28 to 30 November. In the course of Music In Africa Conference For Collaborations, Exchange And Showcases (ACCES), Reeperbahn Festival will immerse deeply in the exciting music scene of Ghana's capital, with its delegation of more than 30 representatives from the German and European music business. The delegates were selected from around 150 applications in a previous application process. ACCES is a pan-African trade event for music industry players to exchange ideas, discover new talent and create business linkages and is held in a different African city every year.

Reeperbahn Festival will introduce itself to the African market with a programme composed of panels like "Navigating the recording and distribution industries in a changing environment" and "Fostering collaboration between African and European music markets", receptions and curated meetings as well as showcases by Songhoy Blues (GB/ML), Gato Preto (DE/MZ/GH) and Lúcia de Carvalho (FR/AO). The programme will provide company representatives and artists with an opportunity to delve into the complex African music scene during visits to studios, labels, record shops and cultural institutions, and gain insights into the music business working conditions in Accra, one of the busiest cities of the African continent whose music market is presently the fastest growing in the world.
