dear media partners, dear colleagues,

In 2020, the Elbphilharmonie will once again be a Reeperbahn Festival venue! Today the reservation phase is starting for five exclusive concerts (two on Friday, 18 September, and three on Saturday, 19 September). Apart from shows by Anna Calvi (GB), Alice Phoebe Lou (ZA/DE) and Niklas Paschburg (DE), we will have the honour of welcoming Mine (DE) and RY X (AU) with works especially composed for this occasion!

Whilst at Reeperbahn Festival 2019, only three concerts took place at the Elbphilharmonie, this year, five shows will be staged there on Friday, 18 September, and Saturday, 19 September!

The Australian singer-songwriter RY X (AU) will arouse feelings of happiness and longing with his unparalleled mix of dreamlike art pop. Just like on his current album "Unfurl", his falsetto voice and minimalistic instrumentation create sound landscapes of enormous depth, instantly touching his listeners' hearts. His concert at the Elbphilharmonie is a commissioned work appropriate to the exclusive setting.

A sensual force of nature in red satin with a tele-caster: The British guitarist and songwriter Anna Calvi (GB) with her virtuous as well as eruptive guitar play, her dynamic contralto singing and not least her stunning stage presence is one of the musicians in most demand of her generation. Each new publication raises her cineastic art rock to a higher level – she is an artist whose Elbphilharmonie show already now promises to become an unforgettable night!

The trained singer, songwriter, producer and arranger Mine (DE) (photo) has been saving German pop from mediocrity with her ambitious and extremely smart arrangements and lyrics full of intricate social criticism and unvarnished intimacy, justifiably making her one of the most distinguished artists of the Federal Republic. For her commissioned work staged at the Elbphilharmonie, apart from her band, she will bring along a string quintet, bagpipes, percussions, a backing choir and selected guests, such as Giulia Becker, AB-Syndrom, and others.

At present, hardly anyone combines the attributes of artistic independence, backbone and emancipation better than the Africa-born Berliner-of-choice Alice Phoebe Lou (ZA/DE). The guitar autodidact's angelic blues quickly drew crowds of fans right after publication of her debut album "Momentum", meanwhile taking her to the stages of major festivals such as Primavera and SXSW. The young songwriter can even count an Oscar nomination in the category "Best Original Song" to her credit.

Tender melodies piling up to emotional avalanches: The composer and pianist Niklas Paschburg (DE) masters the art to conjuring up delicate soundscapes with his music, reduced to the essential, soundscapes that in their impressionistic clarity can well serve as counter concept to our digitally overmodulated modern times. Balm for the soul in the form of music!
