Denmark to be partner for IMJA 2020

These are uncertain and difficult times and we want to advocate that international cooperation is important even in times of crisis and that strengthening journalism is a particularly important task.

That's why we are especially happy to announce that for the first time the International Music Journalism Award is going to be awarded to journalistic work in the Danish language dealing with popular music and it's business environment, additional to the already existing awards for German, English and French works.

The IMJA 2020 will be awarded in the following categories and you can submit your favourites until 31 May 2020 here:
1. The Best Music Journalist of the Year - German / English / French / Danish
2. The Year’s Best Work of Music Journalism
a) Text (Print & Web) - German / English / French / Danish
b) Audio - German / English / French / Danish
c) Multimedia - German / English
3. New Perspective – The Year's Best Work of Music Journalism, Under 30 - German
4. The Best Music Business Journalist of the Year - International (will be voted by online voting during Reeperbahn Festival 2020)


ExtendeD deadline: call for papers

The deadline for our Call For Papers is officially prolonged until 31 May.

Make use of this and submit a proposal for a talk or project to be presented at Reeperbahn Festival 2020, that relates to the music industry and raises as many new and unusual aspects as possible and conveys them, in a best way scenario, in an interesting and innovative way. We also welcome ideas for digital formats.

The independent advisory team will then review all submissions in June.


we.grow officially kicks off

In January, Keychange announced the 74 successful participants that will take part in the year-long talent development programme in 2020. With three of the thirteen partner festivals postponed to later in the year, training sessions have been moved online, and today the online mentoring programme with is launched for the talented women and gender minorities from Europe and Canada. we.grow is a bespoke offshoot of’s mentor programme she.grows. Find out more here.


Vut starts nomination phase for via - Vut indie awards

For the past years the VIA - VUT Indie Awards were awarded at Reeperbahn Festival and we are excited to upkeep the collaboration in 2020. 
The nomination phase for the categories Best Album, Best Act, Best Label, Best Experiment, Best Newcomer and Best New Music Business has now started.
