In its 15-year history, Reeperbahn Festival has never shied away from challenges: Because of the present health situation, the fifth Reeperbahn Festival New York Edition in the course of the A2IM (American Association of Independent Music) Indie Week from 15 – 18 June 2020 took place exclusively online for the first time.

Apart from the opportunity to participate in all official programme items of the A2IM Indie Week, including numerous panels, keynotes, chapter hangs and virtual lobby, knowledge sharing among all participants as well as matchmaking sessions and virtual company visits were part of the day-to-day agenda.

The official programme item of Reeperbahn Festival in the course of the A2IM Indie Week was the panel "Global music streaming in times of crisis – Resilience, Risk, Hope?” which is now available to watch online.
Anchored by AC Coppens (CEO & Founder - THE CATALYSTS, DEU), Jorge Brea (CEO & Founder – Symphonic, USA), Marit Posch (General Manager Germany – IDOL + Artist Manager – CATNAPP, DEU) and Glenn Peoples (Lead Analyst – Billboard, USA) discussed growth prospects as well as challenges of the global streaming market in the next ten years. Apart from economic stability in times of crisis, the topic also focused on the still controversial distribution model for indie labels and artists.

ANCHOR Jury Update + application extended

ANCHOR jury president Tony Visconti would have loved to present his fellow ANCHOR judges in New York once again. But due to the current situation and the digital-only implementation of Reeperbahn Festival New York this year's ANCHOR Jury will be announced along with the ANCHOR 2020 Nominees on 28 August as part of the Reeperbahn Festival International Edition in Berlin.
Furthermore, the ANCHOR 2020 application deadline for artists has been extended until 22 July.
