dear media partners, dear colleagues,

If you want to get a taste of Reeperbahn Festival 2020, you will have a chance to do so on 27 and 28 August in Berlin: In cooperation with our two renowned partners Music Business Association (Music Biz) in Nashville and the WISE Music Conference in Beijing, we will continue our Reeperbahn Festival International activities, supported by the Federal Foreign Office, offering a hybrid event composed of attendance and digital elements on two fantastic days. In the spacious Festsaal Kreuzberg, 50 delegates from the European music business will have the opportunity to take part in a diversified hybrid offer of live and online programme items including panels, showcases and matchmaking sessions as well as company visits.

Moreover, on 27 August, we will make use of our stay in the capital to present this year's jury and the nominees of our international ANCHOR music award, which is promoted by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media Monika Grütters.

Reeperbahn Festival International – On-Site And Online – 27-28 Aug. from Berlin

For many people, 2020 is definitely the year for the virtual conference room to become a firm part of the real work. Despite all the benefits technical progress entails, it is still important to know that in the people's business music industry direct contact cannot be replaced and will be possible again at a small scale.

As already mentioned, in a couple of weeks Reeperbahn Festival will take place as a hybrid event in Hamburg with an attendance programme composed of concerts, readings, films and visual arts as well as different contents for international professional visitors from all over the world, produced live in three studios but exclusively shown via digital channels.

The Reeperbahn Festival International activities taking place in cooperation with our partners Music Biz (USA) and the WISE Music Conference (China) in Berlin on 27 and 28 August will give you an idea of how Reeperbahn Festival 2020 will feel. 50 delegates from European music businesses will get the opportunity to deepen and expand their contacts in the Chinese and North American markets. Here you will find a complete overview of the Reeperbahn Festival International programme as well as the delegation.

The spacious Festsaal Kreuzberg will be the epicentre of the Reeperbahn Festival International activities. After a joint kick-off on 27 August, the delegates will be given the possibility of networking in a pandemic-conform setting and getting in touch digitally with Chinese or North American business professionals.

Moreover, hybrid live/digitally designed panels will deal with the particularities of the corresponding markets as well as the current challenges of collaboration. Virtual company visits to the Nashville-based enterprises "Universal Music Group" and the publishing company "Big Yellow Dog" as well as the Chinese labels "Maybe Mars" (Beijing) and "Uptown Records" (Shanghai) will give an impression of the work environment and routines of the Chinese and American counterparts.

The singer-songwriter session "Survive and Thrive" will present the results of the singer-songwriter camp which will bring together European and US-American artists and authors. The Reeperbahn Festival International programme will be rounded off by a showcase hosted by Sara Kelly-Husain on Friday, 28 August, where six exquisite acts from Europe and China – ÄTNA (DEU) (this year's Wunderkinder – German Music Talent participant), Faces On TV (BEL) (ANCHOR 2018 winner, photo), Velvet Volume (DNK) (Keychange participants from this year's Reeperbahn Festival partner country Denmark), Nova Heart (CHN), Mimik Banka (CHN) as well as Chinese Football (CHN) – will be presented live and in digital format.

The showcase night will be broadcasted live on the Reeperbahn Festival YouTube and Facebook channels as well as on the website of the Reeperbahn Festival International activities.

Michelle Müntefering, State Minister for International Cultural Policy in the Federal Foreign Office:
"Especially in this time, what we miss are shared experiences at concerts or theatres, also across geographic, social and political borders. But in the past months, we have seen what is possible in the digital space and how closely we can get together in spite of physical distance. It is great that with our support Reeperbahn Festival makes a virtue of necessity, for the first time joining two events on two different continents. The programme has a lot to offer and I am looking forward to participating in the singer-songwriter camp."

Alexander Schulz, CEO Reeperbahn Festival:
"After the overwhelming response to the baptism of fire of our first digital spin-off for New York in June, we are now looking forward to building a bridge, in a timely fashion, between North America, Asia and Europe for our destinations Beijing and Nashville, which we have merged in a hybrid event composed of attendance programme and digital offer. Following the motto: Three continents, two days, one goal, we would like to present an inspiring event in and from Berlin to 50 attending business representatives from all over Europe, many online guests from the music business and the media and give you a taste of Reeperbahn Festival 2020 taking place from 16 to 19 September. I am especially looking forward to the presentation of the nominees as well as the prominent jury of our international music award ANCHOR 2020 on the afternoon of 27 August, which will have a couple of surprises in store!"

ANCHOR Jury and Nominee Announcement from 03:00-04:00 pm on Thursday, 27 August

The announcement of the current jury of the ANCHOR – Reeperbahn Festival International Music Award has been an integral element of the Reeperbahn Festival New York Edition for years. It could not take place as planned this year due to the pandemic.

The good news: In the presentation, hosted by ANCHOR presenter Hadnet Tesfai, the top-class jury under its president Tony Visconti will be introduced in Berlin next Thursday, 27 August – this time, however, partly virtually. In addition, the nominees of this year's contest will be announced.

As for the showcase night, here too the following applies: If you want to see the jury and nominee announcement live, you can do so via Facebook, YouTube and the international website of Reeperbahn Festival.

Some important information for you, dear media representatives: Except for the live stream you will have the possibility to digitally participate in the presentation and ask questions. To get access please register via Email by 24 August 2020, 12:00 pm.
