PRESS INFORMATION

dear media partners, dear colleagues,

Starting on Wednesday, 16 September, all eyes in the entire music world will be set on Hamburg again when the 15th Reeperbahn Festival opens its gates. As already mentioned, this year a lot will be different because of the pandemic-conform implementation of the festival – however, one thing will not change: For four days, St. Pauli will be all about the status quo of the international music business – whether live on stage, on our streaming platform or as part of our digital conference programme. This press information will provide you with an overview of our comprehensive media offer as well as our programme highlights from all programme areas.

Here an overview of all relevant points:

1.)   Obligation to wear face masks, distance and hygiene rules, personal data

For every participant, consideration, responsible and prudent action is more important than ever this year. For this reason, please follow the distance and hygiene rules currently applicable. Apart from wearing well-fitting face masks in queues and at venues, this includes keeping a minimum distance of 1.5 m between two people. In order to inform you in case of an infection, we will collect your data at each venue visited. For this purpose, you must scan a QR code by smartphone at each venue and fill in the digital form provided there. Our staff will check whether your data has been registered. If you do not have a smartphone with QR code recognition, you can fill in a paper form at the Press Desk in advance and hand it over at the visited venue.

2.) Press accreditation

The Press Desk is located in the Festival Village on Heiligengeistfeld near the entrance to St. Pauli underground station. Accreditation is personal and non-transferable. Please have your personal ID card ready.

Opening hours: Wed - Fri 01:00 pm - 10:30 pm, Sat 12:00 midday - 10:30 pm

3.) Media centre

In our pandemic-compliant media centre at the East Hotel (room "Sun") you will find five workstations for you to use without prior registration on all festival days from 01:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Should there be need to use our adjacent interview room, please write to media@reeperbahnfestival.com and state on what day and at what time you would like to use the room.

4.)   Access to concerts for journalists and reporters

Unlike in previous years, there will be no priority access for media representatives. Venues will open about 45 minutes before the programme item begins. A major part of our venues will have chairs and there will be only a limited number of seats per concert. We will not grant late admission to venues after the admission procedure has ended and the show has begun. For this reason, we ask you more than ever to plan in sufficient time to be admitted to the venue early enough before the show begins.

If you do not get access or if you notice that there are too many people waiting in front of a venue – don't panic. We have scheduled concerts with time-shifts so that you will be able to attend an alternative concert. That's why this year advance planning and early arrival is more important than ever.

5.) Access to concerts for photographers / camera teams

As for pandemic-conform presentation of Reeperbahn Festival 2020 the usual photo/film position from the pit is not possible, we will provide a limited number of allotted seats for your photos/shoots at the venues. This means that we cannot guarantee access for all photographers / camera teams to all shows of their choice – we are currently processing your list of favourites and will notify you by e-mail for which concert you are listed by Tuesday morning at the latest.

After your choice has been confirmed, access to the venue in question will take place with a guide after meeting in front of the venue. Please be at the end point of the lattice pathway at the entrance to the venue (outside the lattice pathway) 15 minutes before the show begins and have your personal ID or press card ready for verification. You will be permitted to photograph/film for 15 minutes.

If it is clear that at a concert, camera teams as well as photographers are present, camera teams will be admitted first for 15 minutes and then photographers for another 15 minutes. So please keep your equipment as mobile and light as possible.

6.)   DOORS OPEN / ANCHOR

Press contingents for the DOORS OPEN show at Stage Operettenhaus on Wednesday, 16 September 2020, as well as the ANCHOR award show at St. Pauli Theatre on Saturday, 19 September 2020, have already been assigned. If your application is confirmed, you will be notified separately on the procedures at the venues. Should your application not be confirmed, please note: There will be livestreams of both shows on stream.reeperbahnfestival.com!

7.) Digital conference + streaming platform

This year, the Reeperbahn Festival conference programme will take place digitally. Access to the digital conference programme conference.reeperbahnfestival.com is included in your press accreditation. You will shorty receive your access info by separate e-mail.
Our publicly available, free Reeperbahn Festival streaming platform stream.reeperbahnfestival.com will bring large parts of the Reeperbahn Festival programmes live from the Reeperbahn to your homes.

During Reeperbahn Festival our team at the Press Desk will be your contact.
